Thailand Travel Diary: Style, Adventure & A Wedding to Remember

This year has already been filled with so many beautiful moments, but one trip that will stay with me forever was our journey to Thailand for my childhood friend Ali’s destination wedding.

Travel has always been something that reminds me how big and beautiful the world is — and how important it is to slow down, experience new cultures, and create memories with people you love.

This trip was exactly that.

The Journey There

Getting to Thailand was truly a journey. From Little Rock to Krabi, the full travel time was about 31 hours and four flights each way, but honestly… it was worth every second.

Chris decided to come along for the adventure, which made the long travel days a lot more fun.

Our first stop was Dallas, then we flew from Dallas to Dubai. We ended up having about a 16-hour layover, and fun fact — if you fly Emirates and have an extended layover, they actually provide a hotel room so you can rest and refresh.

After such a long flight, that shower and quick reset felt like luxury.

We spent a little time exploring Dubai, doing some shopping, and wandering through the famous gold markets. The traffic was intense so we didn’t make it to the restaurant we originally planned, but we ended up having dinner at the rooftop restaurant at our hotel instead — which honestly ended up being the perfect way to unwind.

For travel days like this, comfort is everything. I kept my travel OOTD simple, polished, and cozy — the kind of outfit that still makes you feel put together after a 15-hour flight. I always pack a few essentials in my carry-on too: a good moisturizer, lip balm, comfy layers, and a tote that keeps everything organized.

Bangkok: A Quick but Memorable Stop

From Dubai we flew into Bangkok, where we spent about 36 hours exploring the city before heading to the wedding festivities.

Bangkok was vibrant, energetic, and full of incredible food. We tried some very spicy Thai dishes and explored some of the local markets.

One of the most memorable dinners was at Sirocco Restaurant, which some of you might recognize from the film The Hangover Part II.

The views were stunning — one of those dinners where every course feels like an experience. They brought out what felt like endless small plates, and by the end we were completely full.

We also stayed along the riverside at a boutique hotel that had the most whimsical aesthetic — it genuinely felt like something out of a storybook, with almost LoveShackFancy meets Alice in Wonderland vibes.

One thing that surprised me about Thailand is how beautiful and affordable everything was, especially for such a luxurious experience.

Krabi: The Wedding Weekend

From Bangkok we finally flew into Krabi, where the wedding festivities took place.

Krabi had a completely different energy from Bangkok — slower, peaceful, and surrounded by the most beautiful beaches and lush landscapes.

The entire weekend was centered around celebrating Ali and Jr, which meant lots of dinners, beach time, and catching up with friends.

We stayed at a wellness-style retreat that had incredible views and great fitness facilities — which Chris and I absolutely took advantage of. Even when I’m traveling, I always try to keep some type of wellness routine going, whether it’s a morning workout or just a long walk.

And of course… the resort looks came out.

The Elephant Sanctuary

One of the most meaningful experiences of the trip was visiting an ethical elephant sanctuary.

Being able to see these beautiful animals up close — and learning about them in a humane and respectful environment — was something I’ll never forget.

There’s something really grounding about experiences like that. It reminds you how important it is to protect wildlife and support places that truly care for the animals.

Temples, Night Markets & Culture

Outside of the wedding events, we spent time exploring the island.

We visited temples, wandered through night markets, and even had the opportunity to dress in traditional Thai clothing — which was such a special cultural experience.

The night markets were one of my favorite parts of the trip. There were rows of food stalls, handmade goods, and so many vibrant colors everywhere you looked.

And the fruit in Thailand? Unreal. Fresh mango, pineapple, dragon fruit — it felt like every meal included something sweet and refreshing.

A Trip I’ll Never Forget

This trip reminded me how powerful travel can be.

It pushes you outside of your routine, introduces you to new cultures, and fills your life with memories that stay with you long after you return home.

I’m so grateful that Ali and Jr invited us to celebrate such a special moment in such a beautiful place.

Thailand, you were unforgettable.
